'Eid Mubarak to everyone! It has been a long while since the last post - been rather busy lately unfortunately. Alhamdulillah I finally have the time to write:

While everyone's busy preparing for 'Eid, I was busily shopping supposedly for a pair of 'Eid shoes. But the trip ended up with two cardigans and 6 inner tees. Where else but at New Look and UniQlo.

New Look: they're currently having a sale where the 2nd item costs only $2. Might be ending 31st August so head on there soon. Unfortunately I can't upload the photos of the items I got here so I'm gona just leave their links:http://www.newlook.com/shop/womens/knitwear/pocket-drop-cotton-cardigan_220569416

What I like about these cardigans are their loose-ness. Typical problem faced when buying long cardigans include translucency and tightness of the sleeves. Alhamdulillah these are just nice (got them in size 12 so it's really loose but not big enough to make me look fat). If you're into such things, head on down to New Look today! I recommend the bigger outlets cos they might have more colours.UniQlo: their long sleeved crew neck tees are selling for $9.90 (while stocks last)! U.P. is $15.90. I got them in common colours. I especially love the natural shade. I put on one of them today and I really love the material! It's great at absorbing sweat and the material is so soft and light. Check them out: http://www.uniqlo.com/sg/explorer.html#/code:069323-000-13/. These are DEFINITELY suitable as inner wear - wear it under your pinafores or paperbag skirt. You'll definitely look casual and chic. You will definitely fall in love with it.I also found a range of flannel checkered shirt which are suitable because they are long-sleeved and there is an option between tunic length or thigh length. Shorter ones selling at $34.90 and the longer tunics selling at $49.90. So worth it! http://www.uniqlo.com/flannel_w/sg/There are also long cardigans selling at $19.90 (sale item) in not-so-conventional-but awesome colours! You should totally check them out physically at their stores cos these are not available online.
SO why do I like Fall/Winter season? You'll get all the great stuff to complement your modest Muslimah wardrobe. But amidst all the buying, remember to buy only what you need, not want. We should remain modest in our spending and not let material beauty distracts us from our faith and 'ibadahs.

Once again, 'Eid Mubarak to everyone! May we meet with Ramadan once again in the coming year, Ameen

Salaams! Welcome to the first Style File article! InsyaAllah a Style File article will be uploaded every fortnight specially for Muslimahs. If you would like to contribute to our Style File, do email in to us!

Ever experienced the need to throw or sell away your favourite dress just because it doesn't give that modest coverage anymore? I understand how you feel. Or if you accidentally bought a maxi dress which was size(s) too big?

Well ... the answer might come in the form of a LONG CARDIGAN. In my opinion, long cardigans are definitely a Muslimah's best friend, giving the necessary coverage that we need under whatever circumstances. =).

However, finding that ideal cardigan can be a chore because of the following issues:
  1. The material is too translucent
  2. The material is too thick for Singapore's tropical climate
  3. The material is too clingy or body-hugging
  4. The sleeves are too narrow

I won't say that I've found or I'm retailing the 'ideal' Muslimah cardigan but I do have suggestions where you can find some of them:
  1. Cotton On/Cotton Body: they have a variety of these cardigans, of which some are actually meant as pajamas. But truthfully, nobody knows and sleepwear are the most comfortable things to wear! I have a few of them myself and no one said I looked ! Price range is about $29.90. Join the mailing list and gain entry to their VIP sales! I got my cardigans at 50% off!
  2. New Look: I've not gotten any from them but I do know they are of about the same price range as Cotton On. Wider variety of colours - especially brightly coloured ones.
  3. Asos (online): check out their Clearance section under Jumper/Cardigans. Very decent pieces though I can't really vouch for their thickness and suitability for tropical climates like Singapore's.

(Unfortunately most of the other online shops which feature long-sleeved long cardigans are too expensive.)

On the left is a unique long cardigan which you can find on Asos.com. Definitely suitable for use with long skirts or long maxi dresses. =). I love it! And what's best, they offer free international deliveries. AND ... since the GBP is still relatively low, it's definitely a good time to buy things from the UK.

Don this cardigan with a fancy belt. Wear it under or even OVER your tudung! Pair it with a vintage corsage! Cardigans are simply versatile and a definite must-have. InsyaAllah if there is opportunity, Muslimah Diary would love to bring in these lovely cardigans. =).

If you have suggestions on where we can find Muslimah-friendly cardigans, do leave your comments. We're looking forward to your responses!

Are you hesitant to go online shopping fearing that you might be scammed? As an avid online shopper myself, I understand the concerns of most sisters whether or not a website is safe and honest. I am sharing this article because I’ve been recently scammed (quite a hefty sum I shall say) so I wouldn’t want it to happen to anyone else. After the incident, I’ve learnt many ways to protect myself as an online shopper. Although I can't give 100% assurance that these tips will work, InsyaAllah these preventive measures will reduce one's chance of getting scammed. And one of the few reasons for setting up Muslimah Diary is  to provide Muslimahs with a safe place to shop.

How to identify a scam website?
